About me

My name is Kiyan Forestier.

I recently graduated  from my Game Design Master degree at ICAN,

following a Game Design Bachelor degree at Bellecour School,

as well as computer programing training at CNFDI..

I am actively looking to join a video game studio as Level Designer.

I would like to join a team of professionals, work on a shippable production for the market, and perfect my knowledge.

Currently available, I am easily reachable.

Being versatile I could fit as well in an independent studio as in a triple A one.

Level Design

My speciality; creating levels, guiding the player by giving him a feeling of freedom, achieved by exploiting the gameplay with the largest variety possible. Implement verticality, propose different paths and light effects to bring diversity to the player, whilst channelling his emotions through spatial design.

I am particularly creative in the execution of the level conception (in engine),

from drafting to whiteboxing / blocking.

Communication skills ; ease of working in micro teams within a studio.

You will find here attached my master's thesis, realized on the topic of the influence of Level Design on the player's behavior.

The subject deals with the impact of the Level Designer on the players,

through the use of tools (emotions, feelings, perception) and concrete methods (paterns, intuitiveness, agency, curiosity) in order to lead the way of thinking.

Game Design

I like to design mechanics that serves the principle of Flow.

I'm versatile, and can adapt to support teams according to their needs.

OCR loop, 3C, Flow, introduction to the MDA framework, introduction to the PENS framework.

My interpersonal skills give me an ability to prevent and resolve conflicts within teams,

and promote communication.

Oral fluency ; ability to express and discuss - in French as in English - in an intelligible way concepts, mechanics and development needs with artists, programmers and other concerned studio poles.

Q/A Testing

Many playtests for Ubisoft and Focus Home Interactive, on various games.

I'm quite good at finding bugs, unplanned ways to complete a level or cut through it.

My few speedrun experiences taught me to gauge certain potential level fragilities,

and what to watch out for that could be critical.

I already had a glimpse at Jira for bug tracking.
